  The full title for the Level 3 PTLLS qualification is “Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector”. The acronym is often pronounced “petals”. It has now been replaced with a new qualification, the Level 3 in Adult Education and Training (PTTLS), or AET. Let’s start with the definition of PTLLS, which for many years was an entry-level qualification for initial teacher training, offered by many of the ‘mainstream’ education-focused awarding organisations such as City and Guilds and Edexcel. PTTLS is offered all over the country as a first step towards teaching in post-compulsory education (students over the age of 16).
